Do you work at an Amazon warehouse in Minnesota? You may be aware that workers at Amazon warehouses suffer a higher rate of injuries than at other companies: twice the level of other businesses, according to one report. If you have suffered an injury, you need to know about your options for compensation.

Amazon warehouse injury rates are abnormally high

The amount of workers’ compensation claims filed by Amazon warehouse employees continues to climb. In 2021, Amazon employed 33% of all warehouse workers in the United States. During that same time, Amazon was listed as responsible for 49% of all warehouse worker injuries that took place.

In 2021, there were 38,334 injuries recorded at various Amazon facilities around the nation, and 34,000 of them were considered serious enough to cause workers to have to take time off from their jobs. The company recorded 6.8 serious injuries for every 100 workers employed in its warehouses.

It should be noted that Amazon has taken some steps to reduce injuries and repair its sagging image. For example, CEO Jeff Bezos announced a new safety initiative. This new campaign will see over $300 million being spent on various projects related to improving safety. While the effort is being commended by health and safety experts, its results still remain to be seen.

What can you do after an accident?

Warehouse accidents are becoming all too common. There are a number of safety precautions that you can take in order to avoid an injury related to an accident. However, despite all of your efforts, you may still be injured. If this occurs, you will need to seek medical attention.

Your best bet is to get a copy of all of your medical records. This includes documents related to your medications, rehab and continuing treatment. You will need these records to help make a stronger case when you file your claim for workers’ compensation. The documentation will also help you if you need to go to court.
